Top Amazon Bible Study Essentials That Actually Help You Stay in the Word

If you’ve ever felt like Bible study tools are more clutter than help, let me reassure you: there is something powerful about having the right resources at your fingertips. Bible study is deeply personal, but I’ve found that when you have tools you actually enjoy using, you're far more likely to stay consistent and connected with God.

Having Bible study supplies that feel good in your hands and that serve a clear purpose, can make all the difference. While some tools may simply be beautiful, everything I’m sharing here is either something I use myself or would confidently gift to someone pursuing a deeper walk with God.

If you're building a quiet rhythm of study, these essentials can help remove the friction and make it easier to show up, sit down, and stay in the Word.

📣 Reminder: Amazon Prime Days are July 8–11, 2025! It’s the perfect time to refresh your setup or grab that one thing you’ve been eyeing.

📖 Bibles Worth Investing In

While I sometimes use a Bible app for quick access, there’s something sacred and grounding about opening a physical Bible, placing it on your desk and reading directly from the pages.

Here are my personal favorites:

  • The ESV (English Standard Version):
This is my primary study Bible. I love its balance between accuracy and readability. If you're curious why I use it, I share more in this YouTube video:

  • The NKJV (New King James Version):
This version is a comfort to me. It's where I began when I first became a Christian, and it’s helped me grow in both knowledge and trust in God's Word.

  • The Message:
I’m just starting to explore this Bible as a comparison tool. It's written in contemporary language and offers a fresh perspective and is great for seeing familiar verses in a new light.

✏️ Must-Have Bible Study Supplies

The basics matter. Good pens, no-bleed highlighters, sticky notes, and tabs are the little things that keep your study sessions flowing.

I prefer to keep my tools together in a pouch or small bin so everything is ready when I sit down. One of my favorite brands is Mr. Pen, which offers Bible-safe highlighters and pen kits with no bleed-through and soft, beautiful colors. They're great for color-coding or margin notes.

Other favorites include:

  • Clear sticky notes (so you don’t cover Scripture)

  • Bible index tabs (to flip faster)

  • A zippered pouch or caddy to keep it all together

📁 Build Your Own Bible Study Notebook

Bible study doesn’t require anything fancy, but I love organizing my notes in a way that makes them easy to review and reflect on.

I use a simple 3-ring binder with section tabs to divide my study by quarters. All my loose pages where I have verse maps, word studies, sermon notes go into that binder. I can easily look back and see how I’ve grown, what I’ve studied, and what God has taught me.

For more structure, use  The Bible Binder System by The James Method. It includes templated pages for verse mapping, SOAP studies, and guided reflections. If you want something that helps you stay focused without being overwhelming, this is a great tool.

Whether you prefer a flexible setup or a structured method, a notebook system is a beautiful way to track your walk with God.

📚 Books That Teach You How to Study the Bible

Sometimes the hardest part of Bible study is knowing where to start. I love having a few reference books on hand that walk through different Bible study methods or offer a fresh approach.

Whether you're in a rut or just curious to try something new, these books can reignite your passion and give you tools to engage more deeply with Scripture.

Some favorites (or ones on my wishlist):

  • Rick Warren’s Bible Study Methods

  • ReCharged by Carey Green

  • How to Study the Bible by Value Books

  • How to Study the Bible Intentionally by Torrey Miller

These books walk through word studies, character studies, inductive reading, and more. You’ll never run out of ways to approach the Word.
